When working for a boss who has an office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and one in Ireland, I found that finding cheap flights to Dublin was an absolute necessity. My employer spent thousands and thousands of dollars on his monthly (sometimes weekly) trips overseas. In order to negotiate the best prices, I had to do a lot of homework.
Finding cheap flights to Dublin took up a good part of my day. I entered the office at 7:30 each and every morning and I didn’t leave until about 5:30 in the evening. This seemingly long day at work practically flew by because I was busy with a number of duties that made the time seem to move faster. When I had to find cheap flights to Dublin, the time soared.
With all of the duties that an ordinary secretary has, I was sure to find myself in over my head if I didn’t find an adequate system for finding reasonable prices on airline tickets. I would toggle between answering the phone, dodging annoying callers for my boss and dealing with many different personalities all day long. Adding the task of finding cheap flights to Dublin just made things very difficult to manage.
My boss was a real penny-pincher and I guess that this can be part of why he is so very successful. I would have to find a price that he would approve and getting his approval wasn’t very easy all the time. In addition, I also had a limited amount of time to get back to the travel agent with his okay.
Eventually, I found myself approving cheap flights to Dublin, especially once I figured out what price range my boss would approve. This was a dangerous but sound approach. I took this route simply because my employer took so long to get back to me. I lost a handful of really cheap flights to Dublin because his response was delayed due to meetings or more important matters.
Making these kinds of decisions was a little daunting at first but once I built up my confidence, I was soon approving cheap flights to Dublin along with some other matters that needed to be addressed as soon as possible. I found that using my common sense and my intuition really paid off in the long run.
Now I have moved up in the ranks from meager secretary to a corporate representative. My employer figured that my decisiveness is a quality he admired. I no longer worry about finding cheap flights to Dublin but I do browse for them every now and then to help the new secretary get accustomed to the system.
